1800CHILDREN

1-800-CHILDREN is a statewide helpline that offers a lifeline of support, encouragement and information regarding resources in local communities. Parents and caregivers can call 1-800-CHILDREN and talk with a trained volunteer who can provide them with information, support and/ or referrals in their local communities. We also welcome calls from individuals interested in volunteering (we can direct you to a local agency who is looking for help!) as well as from professionals throughout the state who work with families and children.

THE HELPLINE IS:

  • Toll free
  • A safe place to discuss options
  • A source of information and resources
  • Available Monday through Friday, from 9am – 5pm EST

THE HELPLINE IS NOT:

  • A hotline or crisis line
  • A function of the KY Cabinet for Health and Family Services Department for Community Based Services (DCBS)
  • Where child abuse and neglect reports are taken

THE HELPLINE IS FOR:

  • Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers, Kin and/or Foster Parents
  • Friends and Relatives
  • Faith Communities
  • Anyone looking for support and/or resources

WHY PEOPLE CALL:

  • Parenting support
  • Linkage to community resources and programs
  • Grandparent issues
  • Child abuse prevention information
  • Concern for the well-being of a child or family member
