Up And Away: Keeping Children Safe From Ingestions with Safe Medication Storage

Across Kentucky, too many children end up in the emergency room after accidentally ingestion of medicines or other harmful legal and illegal substances. Through a partnership with UK HealthCare Division of Forensic Medicine and subject matter expert, Dr. Kelsey Gregory, MD, FAAP this free online training will explore what’s happening right here in our state—using Kentucky-specific data alongside national trends—to better understand the scope of the problem and how we can prevent it.

Participants will learn about the risks posed by over-the-counter and prescription medicines, as well as other dangerous substances. This training explores how unsafe medication storage puts children at risk and provides simple, practical steps everyone can take to keep kids safe. By the end of the session, you’ll be ready to recognize potential dangers and have the tools to spread the word in your community about safe storage and prevention.
