FREE BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR KENTUCKY CAREGIVERS SEEKING BABYSITTERS OR NANNIES

Now, and even prior to COVID, securing care for your children could be difficult. Whether you are leaving your children with a friend, family member, love interest or babysitter, there are several things to consider when it comes to their safety.

In order to alleviate the burden of costly background checks, PCAK, for a limited time, will provide a free Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Check and Administrative Office of the Courts Background check to families across Kentucky seeking babysitters or nannies while funding is available.

Learning pods, child care facilities and in-home care providers should follow state guidelines and administrative regulations. These types of child care are not eligible for this opportunity. Please contact your child care provider or potential provider if you utilize, or plan to utilize, this form of child care to ensure they adhere to state guidelines outlining the safety of your child. Child care provider information can be located at https://chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dcbs/dcc/Pages/childcareproviderinfo.aspx.

Who should have a comprehensive background check?

A comprehensive background check should be conducted on any babysitter, family member or love interest who will be watching your child while you are not present. Examples may include, but are not limited to a Friday night babysitter, love interest who watches your child while you are at work or when you step out of the home to go to the store, a relative who cares for your child, neighbor who watches your child from time to time or a nanny you have hired to care for your child on a regular basis.

All applicants must complete and submit an online application at the following link. If you have limited internet access, the form may be printed and submitted by mail.
